The Government of Ontario, The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO), Touchstone Institute and others are working on a practice-ready assessment program for internationally trained family physicians in Ontario.
The Practice Ready pathway will allow internationally trained physicians who have completed postgraduate training and have experience in independent practice in family medicine or as general practitioners outside Canada to practice in Ontario.
It aligns with the Medical Council of Canada’s National Assessment Collaborative pan-Canadian standards for practice-ready assessments. Applications will take place in two phases. In the third phase, candidates complete a clinical field assessment.
