A collaboration between the Mental Health Commission of Canada (MHCC), the Canadian Association for Suicide Prevention, the Centre for Suicide Prevention, and the Public Health Agency of Canada have produced 2 toolkits to assist individuals who have been impacted by suicide.
The Advisory Committee included people with lived experience related to suicide. They assisted in making these toolkits possible.
A survey conducted by the MHCC in the summer last year facilitated gain a better understanding of what issues, content areas, resources, and information were important to include in the toolkits.
The first toolkit is tailored for people who have attempted suicide , and the second one is focused on resources for people who have lost someone to suicide .
It is important to note that the toolkits are not designed to be an exhaustive list of the wide variety of resources available across Canada for support, neither are intended to replace dialogue. If you or someone you know is experiencing distressing thoughts or suicidal thoughts, please contact your local distress centre or Kids Help Phone .
